You’re my only hope (I-III) (installation view), 2008, kinetic sculpture.

Half-silvered mirrors, wood, metal, paint, motor, c-type photo, glue.

You’re my only hope is a series of works which re-stages an iconic scene from the film Star Wars (1977). The work manipulates the technology of the pre-cinematic praxinoscope, developing the structure of this object further by modelling in three-dimensional space. The object reflects a sequence of images from a central dome, which when viewed from the front window creates a filmic sequence. This sequence is repeated in each work by a different woman, which, via the different modelled spaces, each appear in different sites.
